mini foxes

two and three year olds

Our Forest School Nursery offers high-quality care for 2.5 - 3 year olds. Our twelve 'Mini Foxes' a day are thriving outdoors and we have adapted our routines to suit their needs so that nappies and rest can all be accommodated in the great outdoors. Our mission is to offer children the opportunity to play and learn in a natural environment.  We believe that the earlier children can gain access to the outdoor environment, the better.

Daily timetable and hours:

The core hours for the Mini Foxes day will be 9:30am to 2:30pm and wraparound care from 8am to 5:30pm Monday to Wednesday and 8am to 4pm on Thursday is available.  Mini Foxes is open Monday-Thursday term time only.

Our daily routine

We start the day in the meadow, where we play some fun games and recap on our important safety rules. We then make the short walk across the meadow to our woodland camp within the Stoke Park Estate. We have a choice of locations to set up camp within the Estate, each offering us a diverse range of opportunities for play and exploration. Activities will range from den building, creative play, foraging and cooking, woodwork, sensory natural play, creating instruments, mud painting, counting, mark making and so much more.  Wherever we go we provide a cosy rest area or a comfortable buggy for any tired legs, a nappy changing tent, as well as a toilet tent and a hand washing station.

On arrival at our site we have a warming drink and a healthy snack. We welcome the children with a 'Hello song' and we discuss the day ahead. Following a morning of play and exploration, we provide a delicious lunch cooked over the fire and we all gather together in our log circle to enjoy our lunch. Following lunch, those that need a rest can settle down in a buggy or a cosy tent for some quiet time. As an outdoor nursery we are happy to accommodate children who need a sleep after lunch, however we do recommend that children join us once they've reduced their nap time to under 2 hours or no longer need a nap. This ensures the children are able to get the most out of our outdoor woodland setting and all that we have on offer.

Whilst some children rest, the others are able to carry on playing and exploring. We finish the day with a story and some singing together.

As a parent you'll get regular updates and photos on your child's day via a secure media platform called tapestry. We are founded and run by primary school teachers with over 25 years experience and we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
